Uganda Tax System: Is it fair?

Question:

Do we have a fair taxation system in uganda? please explian if we do.

Answer:
Well, I would think the fairness of our tax system would depend on the kind of industry you are in.

If your business is operating in a sector which the Uganda government does not want to promote, I would expect the tax system to become a little unfair to you because the government wants to minimize the products from that industry. An example is the import of Used Cars which currently faces significant amount of taxation.

On the flip side of the coin however, if your business is operating in an industry which the Uganda government wants to promote like Tourism, ICT, Agriculture, Energy and Education, you would most likely view the Uganda Tax system as fair because you will have a variety of tax exemptions to benefit from.

I would however want to hear what to you think on this issue.
