How is imported palm oil taxed in Uganda?

Answer

Under the Value Added Tax Act (CAP. 349 of the Laws of Uganda)Section 19(1) provides for exemption of the supply of unprocessed foodstuffs, unprocessed agricultural products and livestock. The palm oil can only be exempted from tax if it is being imported unprocessed.
