How To Renew a Uganda Visa

by Brikty
(Kampala)

Question:
I am an Eritrean. I came to Uganda for medical treatment. I got entry visa for two months in Entebbe airport. But two months was not enough for medication. How can I renew my visa?

Answer:
Hello Brikty, let me hope you are enjoying your stay in Uganda.

I think the easiest way to get your visa renewed is to go to the Uganda immigration offices at Entebbe Airport, or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala near Kampala City Council and Serena Hotel.

You can also get your Uganda visa renewal at any nearby Uganda overland boarder immigration office.
Most international students who enter Uganda using buses renew their visas this way.

You should be able to get another Uganda visa if you can prove you have enough funds to keep you around country.

i am a student researcher from america. i wasn't given an extension. i have to return next month. this information given here is NOT complete! i went to the office of internal affairs on jinja road (opposite airtel offices). i was sent to "room 1" down a corridor beyond security. it is crowded and chaotic, but i wasn't there long. you need to have the application filled out (called the Application for Extending Visitor's Pass Reg. 4 Format), a letter from your host asking for the extension, a letter from the yourself addressed to the immigration department requesting the extension (including dates), a photocopy of your passport, and a copy of your confirmed return flight leaving uganda. these are 5 things MOST applicants are required to present to get the extension. depending on your reason for being in the country (e.g., tourist, business) you may be required to provide more documentation. save yourself a headache and call ahead of time -- especially if you're traveling a long distance. good luck :)
