Freight gets $1m training

Thursday, 8th September, 2011

The freight forwarders fraternity recently signed a $1m funding deal with TradeMark East Africa to professionalise the group.

It is also expected to lower the cost of doing business in the region. TradeMark is a donor funded facility that seeks to promote regional trade and integration in East Africa.

Freight forwarders and clearing agents have in the past been at the centre of allegations of dubious tax scams.

The Federation of East African Freight Forwarders Association, the regional umbrella body for the freight forwarders that consist of national associations still face high levels of integrity question even with 90% of cargo going through their hands.
