Characteristics of The Black Scimitarbill

The emini race Black is black and slightly glossed blue with a short decurved black bill.

Sometimes the sides of the bill can be with creamy shades.

Black Scimitarbill has a white band across the primary coverts and a lesser graduated tail with white tips.

The immature birds are similar to the adults though a bit duller.

In their habitat

You will often see the Black Scimitarbills solitary and you will rarely find them in pairs or small groups.

You will normally see these birds in woodland and bush land at an altitude of 2000metres above sea level.

You will hear the kwee- kwee-kwee-kwee-kwee vocals if you are near their surrounding.
