Tullow Oil to invest in social sector in Bunyoro

In a bid to improve social services delivery, Tullow Oil Plc is to invest in Corporate Social Responsibility projects in the oil rich region of Bunyoro. Tullow Oil Plc a foreign firm was contracted by the Government of Uganda to explore the oil resource in the Albertine Graben.

Tullow Oil is to invest in social services sector in partnership with the private sector. The major areas of focus are to range from health, education, infrastructure and planting trees to conserve the environment. Various projects have been designed to boost the sector such as construction of Health Centers III and IV, theatre, doctors’ houses and a maternity ward. In the education sector, the firm is to construct schools.

The firm is planning to invest in the infrastructure sector putting much emphasis on roads. Investments in roads are going to be considered for murrum roads in their area of operations.

The districts of Buliisa and Hoima are the beneficiaries in this new development. The main projects to be undertaken in particular include; construction of Sebagoro Health Centre III, kaiso Primary school, Kyehoro Primary school and Kyehoro Health Centre II.

In Buliisa District, the company is constructing a Health Centre IV at Kigoya Village and Buliisa Community Centre.
