Uganda Weather insurance policy mooted

LION Assurance Uganda and Uganda Centenary Rural Development Bank have partnered to offer weather index insurance to farmers with a focus on maize producing areas.

The Insurance policy compensates farmers whose crops suffer bad weather conditions like drought, heavy rains, and floods.

Currently they are reviewing data from Ngeta in Arua so as to finalise the policy document.

They are also looking for data from other areas to carry on the programme on other crops.
