Qatar Airways set to Grace Ugandan Airspace

Doha-based carrier, Qatar Airways will commence daily scheduled flights between Entebbe and Doha on 2nd November 2011.

The route will be operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft configured for 12 seats in business class and 132 in economy.

Entebbe will be the airline’s 16th route within Africa, joining its ever-growing global network spanning over 100 destinations worldwide.

Qatar Airways already has successful operations to the Kenyan capital Nairobi and the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam, launched four years ago.

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said: “We are pleased to be reinforcing our presence in Africa with the latest addition of scheduled flights to Uganda, allowing us to further serve the African public.

“The launch of Qatar Airways in Uganda will give business people and tourists direct flights to Doha and beyond, and therefore an ideal gateway to key markets such as Hong Kong, Thailand, India, China, the United States and the United Kingdom, providing greater travel convenience,” an airline statement stated.

The daily operation to Entebbe non-stop from Doha makes it attractive for the business and investor community to conveniently access Uganda to take advantage of newly thriving industries such as agricultural and consumer goods products, as well as petroleum with the country’s recent discovery of oil and gas reserves.

By 2013, Qatar Airways plans to serve more than 120 key business and leisure destinations worldwide with a fleet of over 120 aircraft. Today, the airline’s fleet stands at 100 aircraft, flying to more than 100 destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America

The ENTEBBE – DOHA schedule, with effect from November 2 is as follows:
