On the Uganda Equity Market | Stock Analysis 15th AUG 2011 to 19th AUG 2011

The bourse started another week of trading (15th/08/2011 ? 19th/08/2011) as turnover continued to plummet.

Bank of Baroda registered the lowest turnover in a long period of trading at an average price of Ug shs285 per share.

After closing last week without trading, DFCU bank started the new week by registering Ug shs3.4m in turnover from 3,444 volumes traded at an average price of Ug shs1,001 per share.

Stanbic Bank traded volumes of 13,167 shares lower than closing last week when it traded volumes of 62,548 shares. The total turnover registered was Ug shs9m.
On the second day of trading, turnover at the bourse plummeted to Ug shs8m from Ug shs327m.

Bank of Baroda registered a sharp decline in turnover to Ug shs1.8m from Ug shs11.6m last week. It closed at an average of Ug shs289 per share.

DFCU bank traded volumes edged slightly to 322 shares from 153 shares, while turnover also rose slightly to Ug shs323,610 from Ug shs153,765.

Uganda Clays? turnover slowed to Ug shs4.3m from Ug shs6.9m. Traded volumes fell to 78,884 from 127,070 at an average Ug shs54 per share price.

Stanbic Bank registered a decline in turnover to Ug shs1.7m from Ug shs9m on Monday and Ug shs9m on Friday last week.

On Wednesday, DFCU bank traded volumes rose to 6,456 shares from 322 shares while turnover also rose to Ug shs6.4m from Ug shs323,610. It closed at an average of Ug shs1,005 per share price.

Stanbic Bank posted total turnover of Ug shs5.9m from 41,318 shares traded at an average price of Ug shs145 per share.

Uganda Clays (UCL) turnover slightly declined to Ug shs1m from Ug shs4.3m on Tuesday. Traded volumes also declined to 20,000 shares from 78,884 shares. The clay maker closed at an average price of Ug shs53 per share.
Thursday saw a recommendable rise in turnover at the bourse to Ug shs367m from Ug shs13.5m.

Bank of Baroda was the biggest gainer of the day, registering a total turnover of Ug shs228m from 761,748 shares traded at an average price of Ug shs300 per share.

DFCU bank traded second, registering a higher turnover in weeks to the tune of Ug shs99.5m from 98,492 traded shares. The bank closed at an average Ug shs1,010 per share price.

New Vision had unfulfilled offers of 1.3m the highest of the day.

With Ug shs29.1m in turnover, Stanbic Bank registered a slight rise. Traded volumes also rose to 200,700 from 41,318 at an average price of Ug shs145 per share.
Uganda Clays (UCL) also registered a slight rise in turnover to Ug shs10.1m from Ug shs1m; while traded volumes also rose to 184,297 from 20,000 shares at an average Ug shs55 per share price.

Closing day saw the total turnover plummet to its lowest in weeks of trading; i.e. to Ug shs3.1m from Ug shs367m the previous day.

Bank of Baroda registered a sharp decline in turnover at Ug shs1.4m from Ug shs228m on Thursday. It closed at an average price of Ug shs296 per share.

Stanbic Bank traded 8,278 shares, registering a turnover of Ug shs1.2m.

Uganda Clays (UCL) also closed the week by registering a low turnover at Ug shs481,085 from 8,747 shares traded at an average price of Ug shs55 per share.
