Buganda Tourism Expo 2011

Buganda Kingdom through the ministry of Tourism is preparing to host the 3rd Tourism Expo.

In an effort to promote the tourism industry in Buganda and the country at large, the Kingdom introduced a Tourism Expo where various tourists’ attractions ranging from Arts Crafts to living animals are showcased at Lubiri show grounds every July.

Last year, the Expo was boosted by the establishment of the Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II collection where all the information about Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi can be found. Other new activities included the introduction of a boat race at Kabaka’s lake and great animals like the lion and many more.

According the chairperson Buganda Tourism Board, Hon. Florence Namayanja, more animals and activities are expected in this year’s Expo which will run under the theme “Cultural Diversity and a Common Heritage”.

Namayanja identified the establishment of Muteesa II collection to showcase all the available information and photos of the late Muteesa II and other late Kings as one of the new adventures to be introduced this year.

She stressed that all activities in this year’s show will be improved to attract the society and to have some permanent stalls which people can visit throughout the year.
