How to Cook Brown Meat/Beef Stew in Uganda - Modern Meat Stew Cooking Method 2

Recipe Ingredients



  • 500 gm meat/beef

  • 25gm 1 tea spoonful of wheat flour

  • 1 big onion

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • 1 small Irish potato (Optional)

  • 2 teaspoon cooking oil or dripping

  • 300ml stock/water

  • 1 spring coat-meal

  • 1 teaspoon meat masala (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon curry powder (optional)

  • 2 seasoning /stock cubes

  • 1 teaspoon Royco

  • ½ green pepper

  • 1 carrot (small)



Cooking Method For Brown Meat/Beef



Clean and tenderize and cut meat into small mouthful pieces.

Clean and chop the vegetables i.e carrots, green-pepper, Irish potato.

Peel and chop onions and garlic finely.

Blanch and chop tomatoes finely.

Heat oil until hazes then fry the meat rapidly until its brown (Brown the meat) and remove from oil.

Lower the heat and fry onions until soft and gives off a good flavour.

Add tomatoes, salt and stir vigorously if too dry add some little stock to make it semi liquid mixture.

Simmer mixture for some time to extract the brown from onions, then add the rest of the spices and stir.

Pour in the remaining stock/water let it boil then put in the meat and remaining seasoning.

Simmer while covered until for I hour or until cooked and tender.

Serve hot in a serving dish.
