MERCEDES-BENZ M-CLASS in Uganda

The Mercedes-Benz M-Class, renamed GLE-Class in 2015, is a mid-size luxury crossover, SUV produced by the German automaker Mercedes-Benz since 1997.

In terms of size, it is slotted in between the smaller GLC-Class (based on the C-Class) and the larger GLS-Class, with which it shares platforms.

For a short time, between 1999 and 2002, the M-Class was also built by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, for the European market, before all the production moved to the U.S. plant near Vance, Alabama.

From late 2012, the M-Class was also assembled at new plants in India and Indonesia.

General Mercedes-Benz M-Class reviews

The Mercedes-Benz M-Class has reached 1.2 million owners since 1997 and is hailed by its maker as the world’s most popular luxury 4x4. Having tested the water for the likes of the BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and Audi Q7, it’s a more important car than many acknowledge. But arguably more important still are the improvements that Mercedes has made to the M-Class over the generations.

Mercedes interiors have a reputation for being well built and fashioned from very plush materials. The M-Class is no different – and in fact it goes one better, with a spectacularly luxurious cabin. Neither of the two versions is short of equipment and there's almost no end to the list of hi-tech optional extras too.

Neither of the two versions is short of equipment and there's almost no end to the list of hi-tech optional extras, too. The finish throughout is fantastic, with high-quality materials plus solid switches and buttons on the clearly laid-out dashboard, which is also extremely sturdy. The leather seats are supportive and comfortable, with loads of adjustment to help you find a seating position as well as built-in heating and cooling systems.

There's plenty of space inside the M-Class, which isn't surprising given its exterior proportions. There are assorted storage cubbies, trays and hooks to keep things tidy, too.

My Conclusion about this Ugandan Car

Are you an enthusiast who likes the occasional spirited on-road drive and whose only car is a large SUV? Then the Mercedes M-Class probably isn’t for you.

But for those who like to dedicate a car to its more conventional use, the M-class in general could be the answer.
