You will need a gorilla permit before taking this route and therefore ensure that your Uganda tour operator has securedyou one as you might not be admitted for the gorilla tracking activity.



Day 1- Depart from Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park

On day one of your 8 Day Uganda Gorilla Safari, you will be picked from your or Entebbe Hotel at 0700 hrs todepart by road for Lake Mburo National Park in Western Uganda.

Have stopover to look at the Royal Drum makers, stand at the Equator for a photographic opportunity and also listen to some few interesting facts.

Continue to Lake Mburo National Park which is an extension of the Tanzanian plains with big herds of zebra, impala, eland and other ungulates.

The park is also a haven for bird viewing opportunities.

After checking in at the Mburo safari lodge, you will take a late afternoon canoe ride on the lake where you can spot hippos, crocodiles and variety of water birds.

Day 2- Go Game Viewing in Lake Mburo National Park & Depart to Bwindi Gorilla Park

After breakfast On day two of your 8 Day Uganda Gorilla Safari, have an early game drive in the park where we will view elands, antelopes, zebras, impala and many acacia- associated birds.

Stop over for lunch then continue with your journey to spot the excellent views of the triangular peaks of the Virunga volcanoes of Rwanda and the Congo.

The road then drops down into a valley, to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the mountain gorillas!

Bird life and primate life in Bwindi is quite superb, and there is an incredible variety of flora.

Book into your favourite Gorilla Resort for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 Gorilla Tracking Safari in Bwindi Gorilla Forest

On day three of your 8 Day Uganda Gorilla Safari, Wake up early morning for a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla tracking.

Before 8:00 am report to the Bwindi park ranger station for a brief talk by one of the rangers as well as registration.

You will then set off for your Gorilla tracking activity in the forests of Bwindi.

Tip

Gorilla tracking can be strenuous, and you will need to carry packed lunch, drinking water, wear comfortable boots or jungle shoes suitable for steep muddy slopes, put on ear plugs if you feel uncomfortable with jungle sounds and also take a rain jacket.

Ask the Game rangers for a walking stick if you feel you need one, and you will receive it free.

The gorilla guides will then take you through the bush pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas.

You need a good ammount of fitness as this gorilla trek can take from half an hour to as long as 9 hours.

  • Sit in the forest among the gorillas,
  • Listen to them grumble to each other, and
  • Marvel at the sheer size of the silverback.

It is indeed an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest and knowing you're in close range with the few of the world's surviving mountain gorillas.

You will then have your dinner and spend the night at your Bwind lodging tent for the second time.



Day 4- Depart from Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth National Park in South Western Uganda

After morning breakfast on day four of your 8 Day Uganda Gorilla Safari, depart early with your packed lunch for Queen Elizabeth National Park.

You will drive through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth known as Ishasha, famed for its tree-climbing lions.

Ishasha is a remote and beautiful extension of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

You will see buffalo, topi and hippo among other species.

It is a fabulous sight to see the lions draped from the trees and nowhere in Africa do you stand a better chance of seeing this than in the large low-limbed fig tree of Ishasha.

Day 5- Take a wildlife Tour in Queen Elizabeth National Park

After Breakfast on day five of your 8 Day Uganda Gorilla Safari , take an early morning game drive at Queen Elizabeth National Park and spot Elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, hippos and others.

You will return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon take a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel for an opportunity to view a variety of water creatures.

After this wonderful afternoon, make a slow drive back to your Safari Lodge.



Day 6 - Depart from Queen Elizabeth to Kibale Chimpanzee Forest

Following breakfast on day six of your 8 Day Uganda Gorilla Safari, you will depart to Kibale Forest National Park.

You will depart Queen Elizabeth National park via the Northern Crater Area, which has a beautiful lake and rich grasslands set deep in the crater valley.

This is truly the most breathtaking scenery in the park!

You will arrive at Kibale Kibale Chimpanzee Forest late afternoon.

Tonight you will sleep in either Ndali Lodge or Rwenzori View guest house prior to your chimpanzee tracking in the morning.

Day 7- Its Chimpanzee Tracking Time in Kibale Forest

On day seven of your 8 Day Uganda Gorilla Safari, take a relatively early morning start, then report to the ranger station in Kibale National Park at 08.00am to track habituated chimps.

These delightful apes, more closely related to humans than to any other living creature, are tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees.

The incredibly diverse forest is home to over 13 species of primates.

You will find a network of shady forest trails which will give you much to delight if you're botanists or butterfly lover.

And the birder are in for a treat with over 300 bird species.

You will also find a lot of big game to enjoy at Kibale National Park.

You will then have your dinner and spend the night at your Kibale Guest House for the second time.



Day 8: Transfer to Kampala

Hweee...! This is the last day of your 8 day Uganda Gorilla Safari.

After your breakfast you will depart to Kampala and arrive in the afternoon.

End your 8 Day Uganda Gorilla Tracking Safari.

Tip

If you have an early morning flight, then book into your favorite Entebbe Hotel to avoid missing your flight.

However, if you have an evening flight the next day, then you can book into a kampala hotel for one night and take an airport shuttle to Entebbe Airport the following day.
