Day 1- Birdwatching at the Uganda Wildlife Education Center

You will start your birding Safari at the Uganda Wildlife Education center (UWEC) a zoologist's center for captive wild animals that has lured over 170 species of wild birds 10 species of Weavers such as the rare Northern Masked Weaver, Golden Backed, Black Necked, Northern Brown Throated, Grosbeak, Baglafect, 5 species of flycatchers Crested shrike flycatcher, Lead colored, Swamp flycatcher, African paradise Red bellied and more...

You will also find raptors such as the Gabar Goshawk, small banded snake Eagle, Shikra, African Goshawk, African Fish Eagle, African Hobby.

From the Uganda zoo, you will proceed to Botanical gardens for another birding experience.

Have your lunch and relax and in the evening visit the sewage lagoons in Entebbe.

Return for dinner and overnight stay at your best Entebbe Hotel.

Day 2- More Birding at Entebbe - The Heritage Trail

On day two of your 7 day Birding Safari in Uganda Wake up early for breakfast and connect to the Heritage trail.

The Heritage trail is just 10 minute from Entebbe Airport and you should expect to see some interesting bird species including the Brown Crowned Tchargra, Black Cuckoo Shrike, Brown Twin spot, Mustached Warbler, Violet backed Starlings, Yellow bill, Southern Banded Snake Eagle, Great sparrow hawk, Short Toed Snake Eagle, Red Shouldered Cuckoo Shrike, and many more.

From the Heritage trail you will travel to Lutembe Beach for your lunch.

At this Uganda beach you will take a boat tour and search for water birds, you're likely to see the papyrus Canary, thousands of Grey Headed Gulls, White Winged black Terns, and the Papyrus Gonolek.

Continue birding until sunset then return to your Entebbe Tourist accommodation for dinner and overnight stay for the second night.



Day 3- Take the Mabamba Swamps Birding Tour & Travel to Kampala

On day three of your 7 day Birding Safari in Uganda take your breakfast early and proceed to the Mabamba swamps, another Important Bird Area (IBA) with a population of about five Shoebills.

Here you will do most of the birding when canoeing and other bird species you're likely to see include the Goliath, Purple, long Toed Plover, African water Rail, Grey and Black Headed Herons, Squacco Heron, Pygmy Goose, Yellow Billed Duck, Black Crake, White Faced Whistling Duck, Swamp Moorhen, Allen's Gallinule, African Jacana and many more...

Do not miss the Sitatunga Antelope (swamp Antelope)!

As you travel to Kampala, stop by another swamp where you could see the Yellow Crowned Bishop, the Papyrus Gonolek, the Weyns Weaver, and the White winged Warbler.

You will have your lunch enroute and continue birding around Kampala till evening time.

Day 4- Its Bird Watching time in Mabira Forest

Arise for breakfast and then travel to Mabira forest. You will take about an hour reach the forest.

The bird species you should look out for while in Mabira Forest include the Yellow whiskered Greenbul, the White spotted Fluff tail, the Toro Greenbul, the Forest Robin, the Buff spotted Woodpecker, the Grey spotted Woodpecker, the Leaf love, the Red headed Blue Bill, the Yellow spotted Barbet, the Grey throated Barbet, the Yellow Rumped Tinker bird,the Red headed Malimbe, the Yellow Throated Tinker bird, the Blue Breasted Kingfisher, the African Pygmy, the Shining blue, the Woodland Kingfishers, the Red tailed Ant, the Thrush Chestnut Wattle Eye, the Chin spot Batis, the Banded Wattle Eye, the Yellow mantled, the Brown capped, the Black Billed, the Weyn's Weavers, the Purple headed Starling, the Violet backed Starling and many more charming bird species.

You will have a picnic lunch and continue birding to evening.

Return to your Kampala tourist Hotel for dinner and overnight stay for the second night.



Day 5- Take a Birding, Wildlife Safari to Murchison Falls National Park

Take an early breakfast and then travel to Murchison Falls National Park you expect over 450 species.

You will travel through Luweero triangle where you will make a stop over for a 'leg stretch' and view some interesting birds including the Olive bellied Bronze, the Copper Sun birds, the Compact Weaver, the Dark Chanting Goshawk, the Saddle billed Stork and accommodation at Murchison Falls National Park where you will have your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6- Enjoy a Game Viewing Tour as you go Bird Watching

On day 6 of your Birding Safari to Uganda, take an early breakfast and embark on a game drive around Murchison Falls National Park.

Some of the interesting bird species you should look out for here include the Chestnut capped Weaver, the Silver bird, the Common Drongo, the Spotted morning Thrush Bruce's Green Pigeon, the Namaqua Dove, the White Fronted Black Chat, the Black billed Dove, the Vinaceous Dove, the Carmine Bee-Eater, the Red Throated bee Eater, the Swallow Tailed Bee-Eater, the Isabelline and Northern Wheatears, Shoebills, Saddle bill, and the Grey crowned Cranes at the Delta.

You just can't miss the variety of wild animals in the park as well!

The the game drive you will return for lunch and relaxation at your Safari lodge before you move on for a boat cruise to the bottom of the Murchison falls where you will encounter the huge Nile Crocodiles, Hippos, and game drinking water birds such as the Lesser Jacana, the White necked stork, the Fulvous whistling Ducks, a variety of Herons, the Egyptian Plover, the Spur Winged Plover, the Rock Pranticoles, and the Water Thick-Knee among others.

In the evening you will return to your tourist accomodation for dinner and overnight stay for the second night.



Day 7- Go Birding at Sambiya River Lodge is you travel back to Kampala

Day 7 is your last day for this Uganda Birding Safari, take an early morning breakfast and head to Kampala.

En route to Kampala you will make a brief stop over at Sambiya River Lodge to bird interesting species such as the Tawny Eagle, the Martial Eagle, the Grey Hornbill, the Grey Kestrel, the Grey Headed Kingfisher, the Helmeted and Crested Guinea fowl, and the Senegal Coucal.

You will also have enough time to take a primate walk in the Kanio Pabidi forest a sector of the Budongo forest.

During your nature walk, you will be able to see more interesting birds like the White thighed Hornbills, the Great blue and Ross's Turaccos, the Black billed Turacco, the African Green Pigeons, the Afep Pigeons, the Nahan's Francolin and the Narina's Trogon.

Have your lunch in Masindi and continue to Kampala.

Tip

If you have an early morning flight the next day, then book into your favorite Entebbe Hotel to avoid missing your flight.

However, if you have an evening flight the next day, then you can book into a kampala hotel for one night and take an airport shuttle to Entebbe Airport the following day.
